What a crazy surprise to receive a request for a special cake to celebrate the birthday of Briana’s 1-year-old baby Nova! The ‘16 and Pregnant’ reality star from MTV planned a garden theme for Nova’s birthday – Nova means butterfly – and wanted a beautiful, sunny cake from The Sugar Suite!
MTV invited Jennyfer to participate in a televised episode of Nova’s birthday party where she delivered the cake to Briana, Nova and their family.
Fun fact: Briana requested a chocolate cake, because she thought it would be messier for the baby. What a fun photo opportunity for Nova!

During National Chocolate Week (and butterscotch week and fudge week, according to The Daily Buzz host Mitch English), Jennyfer was invited to appear as a guest on the show to share her delicious mini chocolate chip cookie recipe. When Mitch asked what the biggest mistake is when baking, Jennyfer replied: Improvising. Following the recipe is important; don’t mess with the chemistry!
Mini chocolate chip cookies
½ lb unsalted butter
1 cup light brown sugar
½ cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 lb mini chocolate chips
Use an ice cream scoop to get a consistent size; bake for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.

Jennyfer Mancino creates fairy tale cakes for brides: Jennyfer Mancino, a graduate of Rollins College, owns The Sugar Suite, where she designs wedding cakes for Orlando’s brides-to-be. The Sugar Suite recently took home “Best Chocolate Cake” and “Best in Show” at the 2012 Festival of Chocolate.
Q: How did you meet your husband, Tony?
In a college economics class. He’s really cute, so I sat next to him, and the rest is history. We married at Rollins Chapel. Q: What are your favorite hometown memories?
It was so fun going to Disney with my friends. Also, we loved visiting The Church Street Exchange and collecting flattened pennies we put on the train tracks. I spent a lot of time at the Downtown YMCA and loved the people and experiences I had there. Q: What is your community involvement like?
My family is a member of Northland Church, and I am a part of Junior League. With Northland we went to Namibia with Operation Christmas Child. Junior League gives me the opportunity to work with Second Harvest Food Bank and a mentoring program at the Orange County Juvenile Detention Center. Q: What is your claim to fame?
I think I invented the brooch-centered sugar flower. A bride requested a flower resembling the one on her dress. I scoured the Internet and couldn’t find a single one. I made one; it came out great, and soon all my brides were ordering them. Now they are everywhere! Q: What is your most memorable moment?
My wedding. It was the best day of my life, and I will never forget the magic I felt on that day. It couldn’t have been more perfect. As a wedding vendor, it makes me even prouder to be part of someone’s wedding day. Q: What are your retirement dreams?
I want to be a painter, have a garden and drink lots of wine!
It was an honor to teach a wedding cake class at The Notter School of Pastry Arts, a European and design focused pastry school in Orlando founded by celebrity chef Ewald Notter. Just four short years ago I was looking into The Notter School as a student, so personally it was an INCREDIBLE opportunity and milestone to be asked to teach their wedding cake class. The students did an amazing job, and the last photo is of their mini wedding cakes! They have some super talented instructors, and it was an honor to even be considered for this class!
Recently we were approached by David Miller of the cooking show Your Plates or Mine (cute name for a show, right?!) to do an episode on baking and decorating a cake. David is a charismatic guy, with a secret perfectionist side. At the break he spent an additional 10 minutes perfecting his buttercream technique before resuming….. we have a way of bringing that our of people! This is part one our first “full length” TV spot, and nothing was rehearsed….take a look….
We recently served our first corporate clients, and what better company than OREO cookie!!!! They asked us to make a NASCAR to unveil their new car driven by Tony Stewart in the Nationwide Series. We took still shots of the progress and had this video put together!

So excited to have some foodie buzz! Edible Orlando published a little story about our bakery in their summer issue in the “Small Bites” section. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, our article was opposite one of our regular clients and industry friends Jamie McFadden of Cuisiners, a fantastic chef, caterer and super-foodie. To say its an honor being in a stellar local food magazine next to a super talented chef is an understatement….. we are in awe (and a little giddy)!
