Recently we were approached by David Miller of the cooking show Your Plates or Mine (cute name for a show, right?!) to do an episode on baking and decorating a cake. David is a charismatic guy, with a secret perfectionist side. At the break he spent an additional 10 minutes perfecting his buttercream technique before resuming….. we have a way of bringing that our of people! This is part one our first “full length” TV spot, and nothing was rehearsed….take a look….

We recently served our first corporate clients, and what better company than OREO cookie!!!! They asked us to make a NASCAR to unveil their new car driven by Tony Stewart in the Nationwide Series. We took still shots of the progress and had this video put together!

Southern Weddings Blue Ribbon Vendorship

Southern Weddings is a GORGEOUS magazine that captures Southern style and culture for its international readership. Their brand is personal, stylish and fresh…. a lot like ours! When we were invited to apply for the vendorship, that alone was an honor. We submitted our application & references (which they did contact) and a couple weeks later we were accepted! I keep calling it an “award” because it feels like it is! We are so excited to be part of the Southern Weddings Family!

This article is about the personalization of wedding cakes and the emphasis brides put on them. Media interest in what we do is always exciting…. but especially when they publish what you say!

When Katie Farmand, the Editor of Edible Orlando, contacted me regarding this article she didn’t know what she was getting into! One simple question “What does a week of production look like at your bakery” turned into a 2 page response! Thank goodness she artfully widdled it down to just the interesting parts.

Our friends Priscilla and Richard at Party Flavors are also featured in this article!

The Sugar Suite wins the Brides Choice Award by Wedding Wire!

This was the first year we were eligible for the Bride’s Choice award with Wedding Wire, and we won! This award recognizes the top 5% of the industry, based solely on Bride’s reviews! Thanks to all our awesome brides, and their glowing reviews! Reviews have been the keynote of our growth in our first 20 months. Since we do not advertise (outside of vendor listings)….. our reviews have been a way for our previous brides to tell our future brides about their experience working with us. It has been an honor working with all you, and and we are humbled by how making YOU happy can in return make us so much happier!

Orlando Weddings Bridal Council Member

We were recently asked to participate in a council of Central Florida wedding professional organized by Orlando Weddings Magazine called the Orlando Bridal Council. This innagural group of Orlando’s finest includes Kerline Docteur with Joie de Vie Weddings and Events, Warren Dietel with Puff ‘n Stuff Catering, DJ Carl Williams, Susie Weiss of Wonderful Weddings, and Amy Morelli of 2UCollection and so many more talented people! We gathered in October to talk about trends, share opinions (a task I am excellent at!), talk about Orlando Weddings and to share what we think brides want!!! Hopefully we succeeded, and the current issue or Orlando Weddings hits shelves this week!

SO grateful to be amongst some of these excellent professionals!

Edible Orlando Feature

So excited to have some foodie buzz! Edible Orlando published a little story about our bakery in their summer issue in the “Small Bites” section. As if that wasn’t exciting enough, our article was opposite one of our regular clients and industry friends Jamie McFadden of Cuisiners, a fantastic chef, caterer and super-foodie. To say its an honor being in a stellar local food magazine next to a super talented chef is an understatement….. we are in awe (and a little giddy)!

The Festival of Chocolate is like the Superbowl to us!

We look forward to it all year long, and get seriously competitive the weeks leading up to it! All of our major wedding cake competitors participate, and even though we’ve walked home with a ribbon or two every year, there is no guarantee you will win anything. This year we walked away with two ribbons in both cake categories! Considering the competition, the esteemed colleagues who we have great admiration for, we were beside ourselves to receive these ribbons!

BRIDES Florida Feature

Now, I already have a slight obsession with bridal magazines, but when I knew our cake was in this issue of BRIDES Florida I couldn’t get to the stand fast enough! (Literally, I had to beg an industry friend who had an advance copy)

This is our FIRST official magazine feature, and the excitement is bubbling over at The Sugar Suite!!!

We were so honored when BRIDES Magazine contacted us to be featured on their Florida Spring Edition and even more excited when they chose one of our favorite and most sophisticated cakes. Thanks to the couple, Jenna and Jim….. you have helped make a dream come true for us!
